When it comes to Thanksgiving, there is more to the table setting than just a turkey and stuffing. You take one night out and throw a ton of people you barely see other than during the holidays, otherwise known as your family, and engage in awkward conversation while avoiding several elephants that may be sitting in the room. Every family has their own closet skeletons and all that built up tension imbedded in dinner conversation can be unhealthy. So we here at Boosh want you to take a deep breath and break some ice with some Thanksgiving themed mixers sure to be a hit this season.
To couple that awesome pie you've got coming for dessert, this is an alcoholic treat that tastes just like an old fashioned pumpkin pie.
1/2 oz Kahlua 1/3 oz Bailey's Irish Cream 1/3 oz Goldschlager cinnamon
1. Add alcohol into ice filled shaker and give it hell. 2. Pour into shot glasses. 3. Sprinkle cinnamon on top for extra spice. 4. If you're adventurous, add a little 151 and light the shots, "baking" the cinnamon into it. (optional) 5. Also optional, garnish with a fetus of some sort like the image on the left.
Following in the desert pie genre, if your family doesn't enjoy the pumpkin side of things, try switching it up with it's cousin the Apple Pie Shot. You're Grandmother will surely agree.
1 oz rum 1 oz apple juice cinnamon whip cream
1. Mix rum and apple juice in shaker with ice. 2. Pour into shotglasses. Add whip cream on top. 3. Dash cinnamon on your tongue and take it down.
If you're attending a Thanksgiving anywhere above the Mason Dixon line, it's bound to be cold out. So we've got a seasonal concoction that takes classical Thanksgiving cider and kicks it in the face.
1 1/2 oz Rumple Minz 4 oz apple cider cinnamon powdered sugar 1 apple
1. Add Rumple Minz, apple cider, dash of cinnamon, ice to shaker. Give it hell. 2. Strain into bowl and microwave it for thirty seconds. Hot, not boiling. 3. Rim a coffee mug with powdered sugar and pour in warm concoction. 4. Garnish with another dash of cinnamon and apple slice.
Because we also think your Thanksgiving celebration would be a lot more fun if it included some caffeine and guarana, this is a great recipe for Turkey Day Jello Shots. Guaranteed to be a hit amongst the female attendees who need a jolt.
1 package of cranberry Jell-O gelatin 1 cup boiling water 1/2 cup Southern Comfort
1/2 cup caffeine & guarana infused p.i.n.k. vodka
1. Place gelatin in heatproof bowl and add boiling water til the mix dissolves. 2. Add SoCo and p.i.n.k. vodka, stir it in there. 3. Divide the mixture among 20 one-ounce disposable cups. 4. Place cups in fridge until firm. 2-4 hours. 5. Note: we suggest not taking it out of your family member's cleave.
With finals right around the corner, you don't have time to get sick. So kill all the bacteria in your body with some backwoods doctor remedies - like alcohol.
2 oz Irish Whiskey 1 oz Peppermint Schnapps 1 lime
1. Mix two parts Irish Whiskey to one part Peppermint Schnapps in shaker. 2. Add ice, give it hell. 3. Strain into shot glasses. 4. Garnish with lime wedge.
If you're still up for a night out on the town after Blackout Wednesday, you're going to need a little caffeine pick-me-up after ingesting all that coma-inducing typtophan.
6 oz hot coffee 2 oz Irish whiskey 1 tsp brown sugar heavy cream
1. Combine whiskey, coffee, and sugar in a cup. Stir to dissolve. 2. Take back of spoon and gently float heavy cream on top. 3. Garnish with some more brown sugar and get ready for the rest of the night.
