We watch horror movies for several reasons. Sure they can get gory and scare us, but they get our adrenaline pumping. I'd like to see a romantic comedy get your pulse going quite like a scene where the coed can't seem to understand that going upstairs is a terrible idea when being chased by a killer. They serve as warnings to not talk to strangers (with knives) and that just about anything can be used as a weapon in the wrong hands. With Halloween a few days away and horror flicks lining up in your Netflix requests, we figured we'd go ahead and save you the time by bringing you the real reason you watch horror films - to watch your favorite starlets meet untimely ends.
Sarah Michelle Gellar "Scream 2"
She has become sort of a horror-ho, taking parts throughout her career where a devilish force is obviously abound. From "Buffy" to The Grudge, Sarah has dealt with everything from vampires to ghosts to murderous teens on the loose. But of course, for all the time we like to see her on screen, you watch the horror flicks for the inadvertent knife swipes. So here's her getting it as a lonely sorority girl in the beginning of Scream 2.
Sarah Michelle Gellar & Bridgette Wilson "I Know What You Did Last Summer"
Since we had a crush on Gellar all through puberty, it makes sense to include her twice. And this time, with a face familiar to the Adam Sandler disciples out there. That's right, it's none other than Billy Madison's Veronica Vaughn. Clip is a little long, but gives you two for one as both lovely ladies meet their demise at the hands of a crazed fisherman and a giant hook.
Kirsten Dunst "Interview with a Vampire"
America's favorite sweetheart was only 12 years old when she hit the silver screen in this star-studded drama about blood suckers. Dunst admitted in an interview last month that she regrets becoming famous at such an early age, citing her role in the vampire epic as a call for her to 'grow up too fast'. Well, when you're sucking the blood out of people, I guess life becomes a little more adult. The scene details her transformation to 'undead' from just plain 'dead', and has us scared of little girls in curls.
Rose McGowan "Scream"
Much like Miss Gellar, McGowan is sort of a teen horror staple with a wide selection of slash-em-up thrillers (as well as a couple roles with Pauly Shore which are just as frightening). We're throwing it back to Scream for this gruesome scene for the infamous garage door crushing. I remember watching this movie for the first time and knowing Rose wasn't going to make it out of that garage alive. For one, she was kind of a slut. For another, the big boobs - doggy door was a recipe for disaster from the first time we see it in the frame.
Denise Richards "Valentine"
If her battle with Charlie Sheen isn't scary enough for you guys (holla we want prenup), we came upon a clip from a movie America seems to have forgotten about. The 2001 box-office teen thriller dove head first into the cattyness of a group of high school friends who are attacked by a solemn faced cupid who they wronged back in the day. Don't remember it? It's ok, we didn't either. All you need to know is Denise Richards, hot tub, and a 16" drill bit.
Drew Barrymore "Scream"
It would be hard for us to have this list and not include one of the best horror movie intros of all time. Barrymore was the sexy girl next door who's Varsity meathead boyfriend was "gutted like a fish" out on the patio. It kicked off one of the most popular horror franchises in history in a big way and I doubt anyone in America can look at Jiffy Pop quite the same way since then.
Emanuelle Chiriqui "Wrong Turn"
It pains me to write this, but we couldn't find the clip. We scoured the internet for hours on end and were unable to get anything other than this still image with her head being axed at the mouth. It pains us because not only is it crazy, but we love Emanuelle Chiriqui. From "Entourage" to one of her first roles in the cult college flick 100 Girls. So you'll just have to do with a picture of her being killed off by demented backwoods psychos instead of the actual video clip.
Jenny McCarthy "Scream 3"
It wouldn't be a Scream movie if a hot chick wasn't killed off soon after the film began. I mean, if it ain't broke - don't fix it. Jenny plays a movie vixen starring in the remake of the film about the original suburban killings; needless to say she obviously wasn't going to make it through til the credits. We could only find a clip in German, but I think that makes it scarier. Wait until the two minute mark for her grand entrance, and seven minute mark for her... exit.
Mischa Barton "The Sixth Sense"
Did you know the OC leading lady played the vomit girl in The Sixth Sense? Neither did we. The more you know (star fade). Of course this clip doesn't show a very young Barton dying, because she's already dead and pestering Haley Joel, but it's still creepy. We couldn't track down the vomit scene that I know freaked me out when I first saw it, but the bedroom scene is just as creepy - marionettes and all.
Shannon Elizabeth "Jack Frost"
Before gaining mainstream awareness as that naked girl from American Pie, Shannon Elizabeth was that naked girl from a B horror film Jack Frost. Not to be confused with the heartwarming tale of Michael Keaton coming back to life as a snowman to be tell his son he loves him - this is the heartwarming tale of a murderous psycho who comes back to life as a snowman to kill more people. The only thing funnier than the cheap costume is the fact that Shannon Elizabeth gets humped to death in the bathtub. Kind of NSFW, lots of screaming but no nudity. Just hilarious carrot innuendos.
