It has happened. The Milwaukee Brewers are actually in the playoffs. I’m sure it means a lot to the players to have made it this far, but I guarantee their joy is nothing compared to the emotion of longtime Brewer fans. They have been waiting patiently for 26 years to see the Brew Crew make it to the post season. A lot has changed in our world since that last appearance. Here is a glimpse of what things were like in the U.S. back then.
Music
Michael Jackson was king of pop. He had just released his second album, titled Thriller. It went on to win 7 Grammys. Also, an artist from Michigan named Madonna released Everyday, her first album.
Movies
ET, Rocky III and Poltergeist were most popular movies in box office sales.
Cheap Gas
Cost of a gallon of gas - $.91- Can you imagine what it would be like to fill you gas tank for $15-$20?
Cheap Baseball Tickets
In 1982 the lowest price for a Brewer’s ticket was $8. In 2008, the cheapest ticket cost is also $8. Imagine that!
President of the United States
The nation’s president was Ronald Reagan. He was famous or Reaganomics and taking a stand against the Iron Curtain. Technology
The first CD player was sold in Japan. Television
Knight Rider was in its prime. David Hasselhof was an eighties heartthrob, and today he is a judge on America’s Got Talent. Maybe he should have stayed in the 80s.
Hairstyles
The trendiest hairstyle was the mullet. Dang, imagine Joe Dirt having the “in” look?
Today's Brewers
C.C. Sabathia was 2 years old. Prince Fielder, like ten other players on the current roster, was yet to be born.
